Message by Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Federal President
Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier held a speech at the ceremony to mark the Day of German Unity on 3 October in Potsdam: „The struggle for freedom and democracy is never won – anywhere in the world. It continues, and it’s up to us to pick up the banner over and over again. My advice is: let us accept this challenge! We do this in full awareness of what happened in 1989, of the courage and determination of the civil rights activists and the Peaceful Revolution.“
